One of my buys from my first thrift haul! An oversized $5 pants which was of polyester viscose material! :D
For the pants
Seam ripped the waist band and took out the elastic before ironing it nice and flat! :D
I really wanted to keep the original pockets, so I cut the bottom to save it for the top, and made use of what was on the top part for the pants.
The cuttings from the crotch and in seams were later used for the straps for the crop top!
I then did a very silly mistake of sewing down the whole crotch and side seams without realising that I had in essence made myself a skirt! I then had to seam rip and redo it again!
Folded the top into a casing and top stitched before inserting an elastic in it!
Finally finished it off by hemming the bottom! :D
For the crop top
Joined the bottom parts of the pants to form the bodice, and trimmed off the extras to combine more fabric for the straps!
I used interfacing for between the layers for the buttonhole and button areas, and I kept the original bottom hem for the bottom of the crop top, and hemmed the top with a wider edge.
As the bodice was not snug fitting at the top, I inserted elastic into the front two wide hems so that it could fit better! :D
It was definitely nerve-wrecking to work on the buttonholes as I was worried I might ruin the work but it was great practice, and by the time I reached the fourth buttonhole, I had gotten the hang of making relatively straight buttonholes :D
Attached the straps last!
Not quite what I had hoped for it to be, but still happy with how it turned out! XD
I would have loved for my pants to turn out like this blue one that I had, but ended up cutting too much of the sides and it became more of a straight-leg pants!
