Made this dress during one of the cold winter nights, but yay! Finally warm enough to wear it out and take photos for the post! :D :D
Got some beautiful blue double gauze (?) fabric from Spotlight during one of their sales earlier during the year :D :D
After researching on what pieces I could make with it, I came across Buba Homestories and fell in love with some of their pieces! :)
Unfortunately, after pre-washing my fabric, it seemed like my fabric shrank quite a bit (or maybe I did buy lesser than I thought I did *laughs*).
Although I wanted to make a longer dress with a wider width so that it was more free-flowy, I had to make do with the amount that I had while saving enough for ruffles!
With my fabric on fold at the top, I marked out the measurements and lines and cut.
Designed this on Illustrator to record the measurements that I ended up cutting my fabric with.

The 3" at the top is for the fold to enclose the strap later on.
The 17" came about after marking the armholes. When the strap is inside, it will result in the desired gathers when it is brought in to be the 10" across my collarbone.
The 30" for the straps came about from adding 10" on both sides to the 10" across my collarbone, but it may have been a little bit too short for me to comfortably tie bows. I will probably make do with tying a different kind of knot! :)
Didn't take photos of the steps but... after cutting...
Double folded and hemmed the armhole curves
Double folded the top edge and folded down to the line where the original 3" from the edge would have been, and sewed, forming an enclosure for the strap
Top stitched the resulting top neckline
Sewed the straps and turned right side out and finished the short edges
French seamed the sides of front/back pieces
Inserted straps in

Cut out short strips from the remaining side piece, to combine with the long strip
Sewed them all together with a french seam
Double folded and hemmed the bottom edge
Sewed a long gathering stitch for the top edge, gathered, pinned it to the main dress wrong sides together for a french seam
:D
Notes for sewing with double-gauze
Pin within seam allowances
70/10, 80/12 needles (can't remember what I ended up using!)
Longer stitch length
Use the walking foot
Use french seams as it frays easily
