Crumb quilting projects!

My scrap pile was getting full from all the projects I have done in the past few years, and the hoarder in me had the scrap pile accumulating! After I started quilting, needless to say, it grew even more!

Last year, I came across crumb quilting. I decided to sort out the pieces of scraps I had, into light, mid and dark tones. Although I initially thought of using the crumb quilt blocks to make a quilt for myself, I decided not to as I just had too many designs that I really liked that I wanted to try instead.

Decided to turn my crumb quilt pieces into more practical and functional projects instead of a whole quilt! :D

Ended up with incorporating the crumb quilting and quilt-as-you-go techniques for

  • zipper pouches (used the "light" toned pieces for the exterior, and lining was made with scrap flannel that I had leftover from quilt backings)

  • coasters (I had previously made some before from crumb quilt pieces but ended up still needing more!)

Such a great feeling to be able to make use of scrap pieces and turn it into something so useful! Such a delight to have all my "favourite" fabrics that I would have probably used for gifts, and have a little piece of it for memories! So looking forward to new items that I can do from new crumb quilts as I continue to join up existing pieces! :D

Now my bag is so much more organised wooohoooo! :D
